Practical Action works with smallholder farmers assisting them to increase their productivity and access to markets. Practical Action uses an approach called Participatory Market System Development (PMSD) which engages marginalised farmers with other actors in the "market system" to help them understand their market and strengthen their relationships. Practical Action helps market actors to improve their knowledge and work together to pursue opportunities and identify and address blockages. PMSD also involves enterprise development - technical, business and marketing skills. The MLA provides a platform we can further strengthen our work through interaction with other organisations, actors and service providers interested in agriculture market system development.
